Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in your will,
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Invitatory

Hear the commandments of God to his people:
I am the Lord your God,
who brought you out of the land of Egypt,
out of the house of bondage.
You shall have no other gods before me.
Amen. Lord, have mercy.
You shall not make for yourselves an idol,
nor any image of anything in heaven or earth.
Amen. Lord, have mercy.
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
Amen. Lord, have mercy.
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
You shall labour six days,
but the seventh is a Sabbath to the Lord your God.
Amen. Lord, have mercy.
Honour your father and your mother,
that your days may be long.
Amen. Lord, have mercy.
You shall not murder.
Amen. Lord, have mercy.
You shall not commit adultery.
Amen. Lord, have mercy.
You shall not steal.
Amen. Lord, have mercy.
You shall not be a false witness.
Amen. Lord, have mercy.
You shall not covet.
Amen. Lord, have mercy.
Lord have mercy upon us,
and write all these your laws in our hearts, we pray you.
— Exodus 20:1-17† & Decalogue, from BCP1979†

Cruciform

The word of the cross is foolishness
to those who are dying,
but to us who are being saved
it is the power of God.
The Jews ask for signs. The Greeks seek wisdom.
But we preach Christ crucified:
because the foolishness of God is wiser than men,
and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
— 1 Corinthians 1:18, 22-23a, 25†

Weeks

Jesus said: “Destroy this temple,
and in three days I will raise it up.”

— John 2:19†

Following the seventh bead:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Dimissory

The heavens declare the glory of God.
The expanse shows his handiwork.
Day after day they pour out speech,
and night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech nor language,
where their voice is not heard.
Their voice has gone out through all the earth,
their words to the end of the world.
The Lord’s law is perfect, restoring the soul.
The Lord’s covenant is sure, making wise the simple.
The Lord’s precepts are right, rejoicing the heart.
The Lord’s commandment is pure, enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever.
The Lord’s commandments are true and righteous.
They are more to be desired than gold,
yes, than much fine gold,
sweeter also than honey
and the extract of the honeycomb.
— Psalm 19:1-4a, 7-10†
